For such a light gun, this one really gets the job done. It’s just a bit more than 4 pounds, but it feels even lighter than that in hand because, we assume, of Hitachi’s famous design and engineering. Equipped with a contact trip mechanism, it fires as fast as you can go, but you can pick up the optional sequential trigger if you need it. The magazine holds a robust 150 staples, and that means less downtime for reloading. We like the open magazine design, because you can see at just a glance if you’re running low on fasteners. Not that we’ve ever fired blanks…

We couldn’t get this gun to jam, but the clearing process is fast and simple: Just release the lock latch, open the blade guide, free the jam with a screwdriver and close the latch. Done. There’s a nice clean depth-of-drive adjustment, but it isn’t tool-free, so users may prefer controlling that with air pressure. As much as 50 percent quieter than most HVLP turbines, this spray system’s 3-stage turbine features a patented soundproofing feature and keeps air flowing freely to the motor for optimal cooling; the turbine provides approximately 6 PSI.
