This is a mighty little drill that’s more than up to whatever test you put it to. We like it particularly for its awesome compact size and for the fact that size doesn’t mean sacrificing power. It’s got all the strength and torque you need for just about anything you need to do around the house, the yard and the garage, whether it’s drilling or driving tasks.

The variable speed is a great feature, and you’ll find you’re making good use of it every time you use this drill, for slow, controlled starts as well as the speed you need for drilling, with a range of 0 to 650 rpm. The clutch has six settings, so you always get the torque you need for the job, up to 105 inch-pounds.

One of the things we liked most about this drill is the fact that it’s smaller and lighter than previous models, and so better suited for smaller hands, especially women’s. But one thing we’ve found on some female-friendly drills is that sometimes, the battery puts up too good a fight if you can’t grip all the way around it. No worries here: The 12-volt battery is spring-loaded for easy ins and outs. B&D gets a big woohoo from us for that.

Here’s a great collection of DeWalt tools that all use the same 18-volt batteries. The 1/2-inch adjustable clutch drill/driver/hammer drill’s high-torque motor delivers 450 inch/pounds of torque for drilling with large bits and driving large-shank screws with no worries of lock-up because the third speed is 38 percent faster, with a range of 0 to 2,000 rpm. The chuck’s carbide jaws won’t let go of even the smallest bit. The DW938 reciprocating saw has nice ergonomics–good balance, a comfortable grip, and it’s not unwieldy, even with the battery attached. We particularly like the keyless blade clamp that lets you change blades without touching the blade or reciprocating shaft. The 6-1/2-inch circular saw is one of favorites for its light weight, power and ease. You can see the blade on the left side, so you’ve got great cutting-line visibility. Want to bevel? No problem. And it’s even got a rip fence. The right-angle drill has two speed ranges of 0-500/0-1,500 rpm for more flexibility and a max torque of 310 inch/pounds for large bits and fasteners. The nice long trigger lets you reach it even in the tightest spaces, and in case you need to back something out, you’ve got reverse at your fingertips. At 6,500 rpm, you’ll get high power for all kinds of cutting and grinding applications. Trim rebar, steel pipes, and iron rails with ease. Wheel-changing is easy, thanks to the spindle lock, and the three-position side handle offers great control. We like the easy grip, the comfortable trigger switch and the lock-off feature. The flex-neck flashlight’s wide-angle beam is brighter than a traditional flashlight, and you’ll find all kinds of uses for it.
