We’d wager there have been plenty of times you tried to maneuver a drill/driver into a spot that just wouldn’t allow it and wished you had a small, powerful tool that would drive a screw where others just can’t go.

Here it is. The PS10 is one of the handiest, most powerful little drivers we’ve laid hands on. It’s impressively powered by “litheon,” which Bosch calls “the industry’s most advanced lithium-ion battery technology.” We can attest that there’s absolutely no lag in power, and the run time is great – more than 100 drives per charge. Recharge time is just 30 minutes, so you should never have to wait for a battery.

The best feature, of course, is the clever design. Instead of a pistol grip like most drivers, this one has a sturdy tool body and an articulating head that has five detents, letting you set it however you need it. The head itself is just 3-1/2 inches long, so it’s no struggle at all to slip it into tight spaces such as in between studs, under-sink cabinets, between joists and other tricky situations. If it’s length you need, just flip the head to the vertical position and it’s literally like having a screwdriver at your fingertips; it’s not quite a foot long at its full length.

It uses ΒΌ-inch hex bits, and they’re easy to change. We would have liked to see some on-board bit storage, but that’s a small point. The two-finger trigger is comfortable, and it’s quite sensitive, so take care not to strip your fasteners while you’re on the learning curve.

This well-designed planer offers fast stock removal and the smoothest finish–exactly what we expected from Bosch. The powerful 6.5 amp motor runs the versatile two-blade Woodrazor system at 16,500 rpm with a protective shield that covers the section of blade that’s not in use. The fence itself deserves applause–bevels are accurate and easy to adjust. We love the chip ejection as well. Too many times, we’ve tried tools with an exhaust system that might as well not be there, but this one actually moves the removed stock and it’s multidirectional! Deep cuts are possible in just one pass without bogging or chatter. There’s even a spring-loaded park rest stand that protects blade and workpiece. The saw is a special shape that allows easy start-up in the middle of a workpiece. Accidental starts are a thing of the past because of the lock-off release button. The most powerful in-line screwdriver to date! Why? Well, two reasons: it sports the extended run time, high energy output Lithium-Ion batteries, and it’s also an impact driver. It may seem unbelievable to have an impact driver so small, but it’s true. An impact driver hammers the chuck laterally to give increased torque to drilling and driving operations, as opposed to just relying on the motor to spin the chuck. This powerhouse provides 12-volt power, with Lithium-Ion and impact energy, in only 7.2 volts. This sweet little tool offers twice the torque of other 7.2 volt in-line screw drivers and any other in its class. Most in-line screw drivers are only 3.6 volts. This new Makita tool offers twice the voltage, twice the power and twice the run time of standard models.

Other great features include a comfortable rubber grip, an easy to reach thumb on/off switch and the easiest to use, all-metal, quick-change, hex, Insty bit chuck. The chuck only accepts drill bits and driver bits that have a hex shank at the opposite end of, for example, a no. 2 Phillips driver bit. This really speeds up bit changes. Hex Insty bits have really become the standard and are offered in every drill bit kit available. There is an accessory Makita chuck that converts the quick-change hex bit chuck into the older style 3-jaw chuck that will accept round shank drill bits, so you can use your existing bits.

What I like most about this tool is it bends nearly 90 degrees for controlled driving. Driving in-line is great for fast, light-duty driving.
